The hospitality of Kyrgyz became a bit too much for me after Osh. Especially for kids, they were always trying to talk or chase me whenever I passed a village. They sometime tried to high-five. It's exactly what they knew from westerns. It reminds me Kids in Lao acting same way.

オシュを出発してから、キルギス人のホスピタリティが少し過剰な感じがしたのは気のせいか。特に子供達が少しウットウシイくらいひつこくひっついて来る。ハイタッチなんて明らかに欧米人から覚えた習慣じゃないか？なんかラオスを思い出す。


I will be out of Kyrgyz soon. I cycled couple of days from Osh and reached to a village, Sary Tash, where an immigration of Kyrgyz is.
こんなキルギスとももうすぐお別れ。オシュを出発してから2日かけて、キルギスのイミグレがあるサリタシュまで走って来た。


From Osh, since Osh is in Falgana basin, I cycled up mostly. There were couple of big passes, and snowy mountain ranges between Kyrgyz and Tajikistan was appeared after passing the last pass. Sary Tash is 3000m upper sea-level, so it's quite cold. I wanted to use all of my Kyrgyz Som and it was cold, so I stayed at a guest house at the end of my stay in Kyrgyz.
ファルガナ盆地からだったから、ほぼ登りメインで2ヶ所程峠越え。最後の峠を越えると、タジキスタンとの国境を隔てる雪山が目の前に現れる。この辺は海抜が既に3000m越えてるから、かなり寒い。キルギス最後の日は、寒かったし、ソムを使いきりたかったので、サリタシュのゲストハウスに泊まった。









I stayed in Kyrgyz for 34 days total. I was supposed to stay here for about 2•3weeks at beginning, but I ended up such long time because so many things to do here; mostly outdoor stuff. I really recommend this country for people who like outdoor.
キルギスには結局計34日間滞在した。当初は2・3週間の予定だったが、見る場所も多いし、人もすごく良かったのも合間って長居してしまった。アウトドアやローカルと交わる旅行が好きな人には本当良い国だと思います。

50km from Jalala bird, the road became pavement. I felt thank for how pavement is nice for cycling. From this point, the road was joined with Osh highway. However, the traffic became much heavier, and many crazy drivers go very fast.


ジャララバード手前50キロから舗装路となり、改めて舗装路のありがたさを味わった。ここからはオシュ街道に合流。しかし、交通量が多い。しかもみんなかなりのスピードで飛ばしている。


Many cyclists go on Osh highway. I think my route is better even though it's very difficult; better than this cars on Osh highway.
だいたいのサイクリストはオシュ街道を通るが、やはりこの交通量なんかを考えると、自分が使ったルートの方が大変だがオススメだと思います。


Anyway, I'm now in Osh. The first thing I did.....was ...
そんなわけでオシュに到着致しました。さっそくした事。断髪式。

The life in Kyrgyzstan is done soon. I was supposed to stay in Kyrgyz for 3 weeks but will end up about 5 weeks. I take a day off here and will leave tomorrow. Then next is Tajikistan. It's 3 days away from here
さてさて、キルギス生活もあと少し。当初のよていだと3週間のつもりだったが、結局1ヶ月以上いた事に。。オシュで1日休息したらタジキスタンへ参ります。国境まで3日かな。

It was very hard work on the way to Jalala Bird.

いやいやかなりジャララバードへの道中はキツかった。


The road was loose gravel and rough in many sections, and there were a lot of upping down. I normally don't complain but this time was not... At the last pass between Kazarman and Jalala Bird, I took a whole day to just go up.
久々に泣が入るくらいの悪路とアップダウンの連続。カザルマンとジャララバードの間にある峠(3100m)には峠を登り切るだけで丸一日かかった。


However, the view and people were so nice!! I got invited for drinking horse milk, Kumus, many times.
ただ、景色も人も最高。遊牧民の家に上がり込んで何度となくクムスを頂いた。

This is how switch-buck is like... I was pleased that I didn't need to go up on this...but this afternoon,, I needed to go up again in similar switchback .
久々に見る見事な九十九折。これを登らなくて良かった。っと思ったら、その日の夕方から同じような坂の峠越え。

Grassland again on a top of pass, people let me stay at their summer home. People and animals in grassland do same; laing down on grassland which is the best way to relax...
峠の頂上にて再び放牧地。そこで泊めて頂いた家族。キルギスの遊牧地は本当気持ちよい。ただただ寝転がるだけでよい。人間も家畜も地べたにゴロゴロ。

From the pass, keep going down till Jalala bird. I had a big lunch with meat and Coca-Cola...so nice..
そこからファルガナ盆地へと一気に下る。下り切って久々に頂いた肉とコーラ。最高でした。





In this area, more Uzbek lives. Family I stayed at Jalala bird was also Turkish Uzbek. They are looking different from people in north and east of Kyrgyzstan. They are still nice..

この辺はウズベク人も沢山いて、ジャララバードで世話になった家族はトルコ系ウズベク人だそうだ。顔も雰囲気もキルギス北部、東部と違う。良い人には変わりない。

To Son Kyol lake, need to go 50km from Kochkor and turn right at an intersection. Then keep going on the gravel road.

ソンキョルに行くにはコチコルからナルン方向へ50キロ程進み、そこからメインハイウェイを左にそれて、ひたすらオフロードを進む事になる。


On the way there, I met a Japanese I met at the Guesthouse in Kochkor before I met Eric. We had a bottle of vodka at a night.
途中、エリックと再開する前日にコチコルでお会いした、日本人のカズさんとばったり。カズさんとは久々にガッツリとヴォカを頂きました。


Also I encountered many tourists in Kochkor I had met before in Kyrgyzstan. What a small country Kyrgyz is.

カズさんもそうだが、コチコルではカラコルで会ったバッパーと何度も再開。やはりキルギスは狭いね。


On the way Son Kyol, there was only one steep pass. Then will see the lake. For compared with Kalakol, it's more glass land. I cycled the gravel road on this glass land along the lake.
話は戻りソンキョルへ。湖までは少々キツイ峠が1ヶ所、ここを越えて下り切ると湖。カラコル周辺の山々とは少し違い、ひたすら広い草原が続いている。その中を一本のジャリ道が通っていて、ここを湖ずたいに南西方向へ走った。







I think the way to enjoy this place is more to relax on this glass land rather than hiking mountains and swimming which might be too cold.
ソンキョルは湖や山を楽しむというより、草原でのんびりしたりするのが一番良い過ごし方かもしれない。










There were many Yorts, the nomads tents, on this areas. I was many times asked for Kumus break. Kumus is a drink made out of horse milk. It tastes strange but can be addictive after awhile.
草原にはいたる場所に遊牧民のテントがあり、しょっちゅうクムス(馬乳飲料)ブレイクに誘われる。最初はなかなかクセがあるが、いがいとガブガブ飲める。

I stayed one night there. I stayed at nomad's tent I found on my way. This tent seems very strong, and it was warm inside.
今回ここでは一泊だけした。泊まったのは道中見つけた遊牧民のテント。このテント、以外としっかりできていて暖かい。








It was very nice ride along this lake.
こんな感じでサラッと通り過ぎだ感じだったが、かなり気持ちよい道のりでした。

The reason I stopped in Kochkor is to see my friend, Eric, from Sweden.

Kochkorに立ち寄ったのは、ある友人と再開する為。彼はスウェーデン人で、名前はエリック。


I met him when I did a bike tour in north America. At that time, we met at a parking area in Washington state and camped out there together.

2009年に北米を走った時、ワシントン州の何もない荒涼とした場所で偶然出会い、一晩一緒に駐車場で野宿した事があった。

He was on the way to NewYork from Oregon. Since he bought old cheep bike in Oregon, he got a lot of trouble; 12 times massive puncture at the date when I met him.
He was very annoyed and almost give up.
その時彼はオレゴンからニューヨークへの横断を決行していたが、オレゴンで買った中古の自転車があまりにもボロすぎて、パンク続発。出会った日は12回もパンクして、半ばサジをなげかけていた。

However, eventually, he made it to NewYork.
こんな事もあったが3ヶ月後にはニューヨークに無事到着していた。


We kept in touch since then. After we found that we would start another bike trip, we check updates each other. We promised to meet up somewhere on the way.
そんな彼とはFacebookでずっと繋がっていた、今回同じような時期にツアーに出発する事をお互い知ってから、こまめに連絡を取り合って、どこかで合流しようと約束していた。

After few month later when I started in Bali, he left Stockholm. In last a few month, we decided to meet up in Kyrgyzstan.
自分がバリを出発して数ヶ月後、彼はストックホルムを出発。はれてキルギスで合流するはこびとなった。


This is kind of the memorial day for us. I was waiting for him at the tourist information center in Kochkor. Then I heard someone said "I'm looking for a Japanese cyclist". I immediately knew it was Eric. He was nothing changed; tall and good looking guy.
そんな記念すべき今日、やっとエリックと再開を果たす事ができた。ツーリストインフォメーションセンターで待っていると「I am looking for a Japanese cyclist」という声が聞こえ、すぐにエリックだとわかった。相変わらずデカくてイケメンなのは変わらない。

We had a big hug and started a lot of conversation; about the route so fat, on the way to his distention. About deportation he got in Turkmenistan. about cycling Iran etc....
ビックハグをしてとめどもなく話した。ここまでのルートや、これからのルート。トルクメンで強制退去になった事や、イラン走行の事。

After changing the place to talk, we kept talking with drinking beers...what we had in last 3 years etc...
場所を移してはビールを飲みながら、3年間何をしてたのかとか、彼女の事などなど、話す事はやたらとある。

There were no reason to stop conversations. We had a lot to talk. However, he needs to fly back home in few days for his stuff, and I need to go to Tajikistan soon because the visa will be started soon. We had a only one day reunion.
話はまだまだやり足りないが、エリックは私用で一旦ストックホルムに帰る予定で、ビシュケクに2日後には着かないといけないらしい。自分はタジキスタンのビザがもうすぐスタートするので国境に急がないといけない。こんな理由で翌日にはお互い出発。実質1日くらいしか一緒にいる事ができなかった。


We met only 2 times , but I felt he was my long time friend. I had a really good time with him.
2回しか会ってはいないが、やたらと親近感が湧いて、昔からの友人と再開したように楽しく過ごす事ができた。

After he return to Bishkek from Stockholm in few weeks, he will start cycling again. His distention is Singapore. We promised "Either of us should visit Stockholm or Japan and stay awhile to make more conversation" and took off different way...
彼はストックホルムから舞い戻った後は再び進み始める予定で、ゴールはシンガポール。「次回はどちらかが、日本かストックホルムに行きゆっくりと話しの続きをしようではないか」と約束してお互い違う方向へ進むのであった。

Ive been having a bit of trouble for explanation of what I want to say in their language. Since I went through many countries, the words are some time mixed up with different languages; Russian, Indonesia, English and Mandarin.

最近キルギス人としゃべる時、ロシア語、インドネシア語、中国語が混ざり合ってしまう。

「これ」をロシア語で表現したいのに、「This!!」no no no「イニ!!」no no「ティガ!!」no「エタ!!」Yes!!みたいな。

やはり数カ国を短期間の間に周るとこうなるのか。。。



Anyways, I am now in Kochkor after cycling south road of the lake.
こんな前置きはさておき、カラコルを出てから3日間かけてウスキョル湖南部を走って現在コチコル。


The water of south side was even more clear than north. It's very nice to jump into the water after cycle.
ウスキョル湖南部は湖の透明度がさらに増してクリア。走り終わって入る冷たい水は本当最高でした。



In this time, I camped out for 2 days on the way because I wanted to camp on the beech. I found while camping that cans of fish from Russia were very very delicious. There are many kinds at a store, and all were very good.
今回はビーチキャンプをしたかったのもあって2日程野宿。その時気付いたんだが、ロシアの魚カンズメは美味い！いろんな種類が売ってて、どれもイケる。





I thought that the food of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan were not my favorite, so I think it's better to eat cans foods than meals in restaurants.
カザフもキルギスも食に関しては最低レベルだから、自炊してカンズメ食べた方がよっぽど美味いんじゃないかと思った。

For about food, China was awesome; cheep, delicious and big portion. I missed Chinese food.
この点、中国は安くて美味くて、量が多かったから最高だった。


I wish I can expect nice food in countries where im going to on my way but don't think there will be soon.....
そんなボヤキもこれから先はボヤキ疲れるくらい続くんだろうな。

This is supposed to be the last day of backpacking. However, I left about 20km to the town.
一応今日が最終日。そんな今日にかなりの距離が残っている。おそらく20キロくらいか？


My legs were super stiff because i walked sandy steep down slope for 10km yesterday. I had a heard time to push my body up in this morning. Eventually, I could push up myself and started walking.

昨日の10キロはかなりモモにきた。道なき砂利の斜面を下ったり、湖からの下りもかなり急で砂利砂利だったから想像以上に筋肉を使ったらしい。そんなバキバキの身体を無理やり起こし出発。




On the way, there were supposed to be a bridge to cross a river, but I couldn't find it. I crossed a frozen cold river by walk. So far, even though i had a good map, I lost the trail many times because it's not maintained properly; it's covered by glasses in many sections. However, the trail basically follows a valley, so this route is not difficult, I'm supposed....

途中川を渡る為の橋があるはずだったが見つけられず、氷河湖からの凍るように冷たい川を膝上まで浸かりながら渡るはめに。ここまでもそうだが、トレイルが本当にわかりズラい。全然整備されていないから草ボウボウで良く道を見失う。地図があってもこんな。でも基本的に谷に沿ってトレイルがはしっているから、難しいわけじゃない。はずです。






Other side of the river, there was a gravel road for 4×4. I just keep walking on this road till Kalakol. There were many cows and horses on glass-land where snowy mountains behind. It's pretty nice scenery.

川の反対岸には立派？な四輪用のオフロードがあって、カラコル渓谷をカラコルの街へひたすら歩いた。馬や牛が放牧されてて、雪山をバックにとても絵になる。




Finally, I reached the entrance gate of national park. This place was supposed to be my final destination. I walked about 7hours total today... At the gate, i needed to pay an entrance fee, 250som for this park, but it was discounted 50som when I said "I'm Japanese". This fee will go to his pocket anyway....

そんでやっとこさカラコル国定公園のゲートに到着。一応ここがゴール？的な場所に決めていた。いやいや歩きました。7時間くらい歩いたかな。ゲートで一応250som を徴収されたが、日本人だと言ったら「あ～日本人！！ 50som 割り引いてあげるよ」なんて言われて50som 特をしました。多分200somはどっちにしろ彼のポケットに入るんでしょう。



From the entrance to the town, it's 10min by a mini bus. At my guesthouse, the first thing I did was to check safety of my bicycle. Then of cause to drink a bottle of Coca-Cola!!
公園のゲートから宿の近所まではマシュルートカ(ミニバス)で10分。宿に戻ってまず愛車の無事を確認。ちゃんと宿の倉庫に入れさせてもらってはいたが、山にいる間も心配で仕方なかった。そしてスポーツ後はお決まりのコカコーラ。シュワー！美味い！



I am 100% satisfied. I believe I have nothing left in Kyrgyzstan. I still want to take a hike somewhere on my way during this summer. It might be in Kyrgyzstan or Tajikistan.

いやいや、カラコル大満足。もうキルギスで思い残す事はないかな。あと1回くらいこの夏どこかの山を歩きたいな。キルギスか、タジキスタンか。




It will be a super nice sleep tonight...
今日はぐっすり寝れそうです。

When I woke up and opened my tent, fly seat was frozen. Seems the temperature of outside is still near 0. Cooking oatmeal with seeing snowy mountains was very nice.

朝テントを開けるとテントに氷が。。。まだまだ山は寒い。朝日に照らされる山々を見ながら作るオートミールは最高でした。


Took off by 7am. Since I stayed right before the pass, very steep slope was started immediately. I took 1hour for 300m.
メシを食べて7時には出発。峠下にキャンプしたから朝からかなりの急登だった。300mを1時間近くかけて登りきる。


After this pass, the view was totally changed. There were the glacier lake(Ala Kyol lake) down below and 360° panoramic view. It was absolutely gorgeous. The elevation of a high mountain behind me is 5020m and this pass is 3800m. I believe this is the highest point where I hiked up(I cycled up 4820m in Qinghai)
最後のひと越えの後景色は一転、眼下に広がる湖(アラキョル湖)と360°のパノラマは圧巻の一言。いやいや、キルギス、予想以上です。多分見える山々は天山山脈の一部？なんだろうか。ちなみに左奥の山が5020mで、自分がいる場所が3800m。 多分だが、登山で上がった場所としては最高地点(チャリでは青海省の峠4820mを1月前に越えている)





Stayed at the pass for awhile and started going down. The bank of the lake is full of flowers. I hated to walk on flowers; impossible to avoid flowers.
峠でしばらくゆっくりしてから下山開始。湖沿いを歩いて逆側へ下っていく。湖の畔は足の踏み場がないくらいの花畑状態で、歩く度に花を踏んでしまうから少し心が痛んだ。




This day, I ended up a nice camp spot, 10km from this morning. Good time to read a book.

今日は10キロくらい歩いた場所でナイスなキャンプスポットを発見したからおしまい。また読書に励むとしよう。

出発当日は晴れ！！ 良かった～



Had a breakfast and took off by 7am. I had a company going with by somewhere on the way. His name was Mr.Kim from Korea. He said "I go to Town within today " it's about 50km away, so owner of guesthouse told him it's impossible, but seemed he will try... Will see.
朝食を済ませて7時には出発した。宿で知り合った韓国人のキムさんも途中まで一緒の予定。キム氏は宿の主人に諭されるも、1日で50キロ近く離れたカラコルまで行くと意気込んでいる。普通に無理でしょ どうなる事やら



We stopped at a local firmly and were treated Chy tea. They live here during summer to feed their livestock. Kyrgyz really like Chy tea. I sometimes saw drivers taking a Chy break on their way while I was cycling.
道中キルギス人のヨートでチャイを頂いた。彼等は夏の3ヶ月の間、ここで暮らし家畜を肥やしている。キルギス人もチャイが本当好き。チャリで走っている途中もたまに車を停めてチャイブレイクをしているのを見かける。





From there walked 7km. What a amazing view there were. Some people said Kyrgyzstan as Swiss-land of Central Asia. However, for me, it reminds me Glacier National Park, Montana because I've never been Europe.
そこから谷間を西に7キロくらい進む。絶景かな絶景かな。キルギスは中央アジアのスイスと言われてるらしいが、ヨーロッパに行った事がない自分は、モンタナ州のグレーシャー国立公園を思い出した。違うのは家畜がそこら中にいるくらいか。いやいや気持ち良い。






After this point, Mr.Kim walked wrong way even though he didn't have any map. I tried calling him back loudly but seemed he thought I was just saying hello to him and kept going. Eventually, he realized it was wrong way and came back.
この後、キム氏は何を思ったのか地図もないのに先に進み、違う谷の方へ進んで行ってしまった。全力で叫んで呼び戻そうとしたが、手を振ってるのと勘違いしたようで先に進んでしまわれた(この後、キム氏は間違いに気付き引き返しました)


Walked awhile and stopped right before a pass; there will be the Glaicier lake after the pass. I stopped because the weather started changing, and I wanted to see nice view of the lake under clear sky. The location of camp site was perfect; nice view and a lot of flowers around.

そこからしばらく進んで、湖手前の峠下で今日はキャンプ(天気が変わってきていたし、朝の澄んだ空の下で湖を見たかったから) ロケーションは最高。一面お花畑でその向こうには山山山。



After setting up my tent and started reading my book, Mr.Kim founf me and came to my tent. He was very frustrated that he needed to give up to go up to the lake because it was too late. He went back same way with saying "Oh my god..." In next day, I thought that the god of him helped him and made him back because the trail became very rough and difficult.
テントを張って読書に励んでいる最中 キム氏と再合流。無事で良かった。ただ、寝袋も食料もないキム氏はカラコルへの1日走破は断念。
「あぁ～神様」と言いながら引き返して行かれた。翌日思ったが、かなりここから先の行程はハードだったし、何も準備していなかったキム氏は神様に助けられたのかもしれない。




This is my first day. I got my back very sore. I think it's because my backpack is not proper size of my body.

こんな感じで初日は終了。バックパックが身体に合わないからか、背中がかなり筋肉痛。。。

The weather got better, so it's better to take off to mountains
天候回復、さてさて山に入るとしよう。


For my plan for next few days.
というわけで、これからの予定。


I will take a Yak tour jeep (300som, $6) to Altyn Arashan. Then spend a night at a guesthouse and prepare for 3days backpacking; I will rent a 80litter backpack which will cost me 250som and bring food for 3 days. From tomorrow, I will take off and will go back to Kalakol city via a glacier lake called Ala Kyol and national park.
ヤクツアーのジープ(300som, 500円くらい)に乗せてもらい、アルティンアラシャンに向かう。3日間の縦走を決行すべく、ヤクツアーの山小屋に泊まり出発の準備 (3日間の縦走をする為に80ℓのバックパックをレンタル250som、食料は街で買い込み)。翌日出発し、氷河湖(アラキョル湖)を見ながらカラコル国定公園を抜けてカラコルに3日間かけて戻ろうという計画。






At the beginning, I thought I would go from town to Altyn Arashan but found that all rental backpack at all agents are already booked.
逆ルートも考えたが、カラコルのどの旅行会社もレンタルバックパックは全て貸し出し中で逆ルートは無理だった。


The jeep, a Russian super power jeep, took me to Alltyn Arashan. The road to Arashan was super rough, but this jeep went through. I was pretty amazed. The view was already awesome, so i thought I should have put my things on the jeep and hiked.
そんなこんなで、出発。ジープはロシア製のバン？ めちゃくちゃ馬力があって、ありえない山路を登って行く。この時点でかなり景色が良かったから、歩いても良かったかも。




It took me 2 hours to get there. Altyn Arashan is surrounded by many mountains, so there were already enough materials for people to relax or have fun. Also they have a hot spring!! If I started from Kalakol, I could go to the hot spring after backpacking. It's not open hot spring but mixing bath; male and female. Nice!!
アルティンアラシャンはカラコルからジープで2時間の山中にあって、ここに来るだけでも十分満足できそうな場所。しかも温泉付きです。逆ルートだったら歩き終わってから温泉につかれたのに。。。露天じゃないのがちと惜しい。ちなみに混浴です。自分が入った時は、2人の美女が一緒でした。ははは






The guesthouse was similar to Japanese normal mountain hut. It costs me 750som included 3 meals. There are more possibility to backpack more than a week but also are many attractions around this place like small hikes or horse trekking. I think this place is the best place for people who need to wait for visa.
山小屋は日本の山小屋とあんま大差なく、値段は750somで3食付。ここから長いルートだと1週間以上の縦走も可能らしい。縦走じゃなくても、アルティンアラシャン周辺は日帰りで行って来られる場所がいくつかあるみたいだし、ビザ待ちの間とかに来るならかなり良い場所だと思う。


Anyway, I will take off to the Kyrgyz mountains tomorrow.
そんなわけで明日から山に分け入ります。
