After cycling 150km on dirt road, I arrived to Stung Treng, a small town 60 km south of Laos border.

150キロほどダートを走り、ストゥントゥレンというラオスの国境から60キロほど南にある街に来ました。




Cycling in northern Cambodia jungle. Seemed people this area were very poor; no power and Gus. However, they were always welcoming and waving their hands. Very very fun.

カンボジア北部のジャングルの中をひたすら走る。このエリアはガスも電気もない。人々はとても貧しい生活をしている。ただ、みんなとてもフレンドリーで、村を通る度に沢山のハローが聞こえてくる。

またもや小さな小舟で川を渡る。今回はメコン川。










From now, I will keep going north until I hit the Silk Road.

これからシルクロードにぶつかるまでひたすら北へ向かいますぜー！

I heard that Cambodia Police was spoiled. It is true.

噂には聞いていたが、カンボジアの警察は本当に腐っているようだ。



It was very nice of them until that they provided me shower and hammock.

泊まらせてくれて、シャワーを使わせてくれたり、ハンモックを用意してくれた所までは本当ありがたかったし、カンボジア警察サイコーって感じてた。




At that night, I was trying to cook. A police man came up and asked me to go out and have a dinner with him.

夜になって、いつものように自炊をしようとしてると、1人の警察が来て、自炊はよして自分と飯を食いに行こうと誘ってきた。



I thought it would be nice to eat out some time so went out with him and his colleague.

久々に夜に外食も良いかと思い、彼と彼の同僚3人でレストランへ。



I drunk a can of cork, and they had juice.

コカコーラを注文、彼らもカンジュースを飲む。



After that, I asked the price of rice and pork. The workers said "all together $6"

その後、メニューの注文をする段階で、白飯と豚肉の値段を聞くと、「オールトゥゲザー6ダラー」全員で6ドルだというではないか。



I thought it's a bit strange and asked them about my coke. They said "all together....." A worker spoke a little bit of English so I asked to separate bill. Then, a police man became serious face and asked me to pay Juice.

何かおかしいと思い、カンジュースはいくらか聞くと、「オールトゥゲザー」全員で・・・とか言う。店員が多少の英語をしゃべれたので、割り勘にしてくれと言うと、この警官の顔色が変わり始め、「ジュースだけは払ってくれ」とか言いやがる。



These guys was suppose to get treated from me.

こいつら、はなから俺に夕飯をおごらせるつもりだったようだ。



The answer was absolutely NO!! I keep saying to him why and NO!! This guy was dissapiered into dark.

そこは断固として拒否。するとこいつ、俺を置いて暗闇に消えて行きやがった。



If any police officers in that office spoke English, I probably complained to them. Unfortunately, no one spoke so I gave up.

警察署の誰かしらが英語がしゃべられれば、文句をいいまくってやったのにあいにく誰も英語はしゃべれない。


Cambodia policemen are fucked up totally....

いやいや、カンボジアの警官は本当に腐ってる奴が多いようです。

20km from Kor Ker, I arrived a small village, Kulen and found a guest house. I missed a bed and the price for one night was 20000 Real(about $4), so I checked in.

コーケーから東に20キロくらい走った場所のクーレンという小さな村でこじんまりとしたゲストハウスを見つけ、久々にベッドで寝たかったし、値段も20000リエル(400円くらい)だったんでチェクインした。





A women working here is not speaking English but has nice smiling. Every time when she smiles, i saw all her teeth blacked. Seems women here chew up plants as tooth paste.

宿のママは英語はしゃべらないが、ニコニコして感じ良い。ただ、ニコッとした歯が真っ黒。こっちの女の人、何やら歯磨き代わりに歯が黒くなるような草をクチャクチャしている。初対面で葉が真っ黒だとびっくりするわ。


There was a Karaoke nearby this guest house, and that sound was very very laud. I don't understand why people in this village stop them. I hope they stop them before somebody die.






近くにカラオケがあるようで、村中に聞こえるくらいの大爆音で音を流してる。村の人は何も言わないのだろうか。健康障害で死者が出る前に、カラオケ店を閉鎖させるべきだね。




Next day, i was supposed to go north and visit Preah vihear but headed east ; After seeing many temples, I start feeling that it's enough to see ancient temple.

翌日、さらに北へ向かい、プレアビヒア遺跡に行く、つもりだったが、コーケーを見てから何となく遺跡を見るのはお腹いっぱいになっていたから、そのまま東へ進んだ。






The local road that I took is not on Google map but only my map that I bought in Bangkok.

道はGoogleに出ていないローカル道路で、バンコクで手に入れた自分のマップには載っている。


It's sealed until Preah Vihear City but started dusty unpaved road after that. A section on the way, the road was disappeared right in front of a river, so I took a small boat to cross.

プレアビヒアシティまでは舗装されていたが、そこからずーっと赤土のダート、途中道がなくなり川を小さな小舟で渡ったりした。












That night, only my choice to sleep was at a police station; I couldn't find a temple. I could ask local to stay at but thought it's a bit risky.

この日の宿は警察署。これしか選択肢はなかった。寺もないし、民泊もなかなか勇気がいる。

Finally, I left Siem Reap. As always I didn't like staying in a big city. However, meeting many interesting Japanese made my stay funner.

シェムリアップともようやくお別れできた。街はやっぱり嫌いだけど、濃い出会いがなかなか多くて、とても有意義な時間であった。






The owner of this guest house who i had couple of arguments gave me a bottle of water at the end. It's nice of her.

2回もケンカしたタケオの母ちゃんも、水の差し入れなんかしてくれて、気持ち良く出発する事ができた。






It's very nice to cycle country side of Cambodia. There are many people waving hands and say hello. It reminds me cycling in Indonesia.

しかし、カンボジアの田舎は本当に人が良い。観光客すれしてないし、そこらじゅいから「Hello!!」が聞こえてくる。インドネシアに良く似た雰囲気。休憩すると子供達なんかが寄って来て、不思議そうな顔で見つめられる。これもインドネシアで良くあった光景。

At the first day of after I left Siem Reap. I stopped at the gate of Beng Mealea Temple and camped out. This gate was 24h open and very nice bathroom right by. I heard that some cyclist camped there before so decided to do so.

シェムリアップから出発して初日、ベンメリアチケットゲートの脇でキャンプさせてもらった。24時間オープンのゲートなので安全、だと思う。しかもめちゃくちゃ綺麗なトイレ付き。良くサイクリストが野宿してるらしい。





Next morning, I visited Beng Mealea before sun rise, so there were absolutely no people.

翌日、遺跡に6時過ぎに着いた事もあって誰もいなかった。前日にチケット($5)は買ってあったから、ズルはしてません。

It's very fascinating the temple with sun-rise.

朝日の中見て周る遺跡はとても神秘的で良かった。










After checking temple, headed north to Kor Ker Temple. The road was partly sealed. A car makes a big dust but not much car running; only 2•3 cars in one hour.

その後北上し、コーケーへ。道はスムーズなダート。走り易いが、車が通るとホコリがすごい。ただ、車はほとんど通らず、1時間に2・3台といった感じ。





At Kor Ker village, I paid $2 and camped out at the guest house.

その日、コーケー手前のゲストハウスで2ドル払ってキャンプさせてもらった。


After 3 days from Siem Reap, visited Kor Ker Temple. Kor Ker was old ancient capital, so there are many temples in this area.

シェムリアップ出発3日目、コーケーに立寄る。ここは1100年前の古都で60以上も遺跡がある。森に覆われてる遺跡群は何ともさみしげ。










Since it's pretty far from town, I didn't see any tourists while I was checking around.

やっぱり街から遠いこともあって、見て周っている間は全く観光客は見なかった。

Even though I complained where I am staying, its been 3 days since actual schedule of departure. It's because I met some interesting people.

文句を言いながらも、結局タケオで3泊の予定が6泊。なかなか濃い出会いが続き出発しかねております。




I took a short trip from town by my bike.

そんな中、ちょっと自転車で遠出してみた。





The places I went are Kbal Spean and Banteay Srei which are about 50km away from Siem Reap.

行ったのはクバル・スピアン遺跡とバンテアイ・スレイ遺跡。シェムリアップから往復100km




The road was all sealed and easily to ride.

道は舗装されてて走り安かった。





For Kbal Spean, its located in a mountain, so I needed to walk about 1500m.

クバル・スピアンは山の中にあり、片道1.5km歩く。久々に山を歩けたので気持ち良かった。







There were many rocks along the river with arts of Hindu. Those are created 1000 years ago.

約1000年前に描かれたらしく、ヒンドゥーの神様が川の中に描かれている。











Banteay Srei are also Hindu temple and built about 1000years ago.

バンテアイスレイも約1000年前に建てられたヒンドゥー寺院で、かなり細かい彫刻が素晴らしい。









Those are pretty far from town so not many people were walking.

やっぱり両方とも街から遠いいから観光客は少なくて、ゆっくりできた。




I hope I can take off tomorrow.

明日こそは出発しよ

Visiting Siem Reap for 3 days, I met very nice travelers. We visited a lake and play with local kids.... Those are good part of my stay here but I had some bad things.

シェムリアップに着いて3日目、日本人宿で沢山の良い旅人と出会い、彼等とトンレサップ湖で川で遊ぶ子供達とたわむれたりした。。。ここまでは良かった。が、嫌な事もいくつか。

1. My accommodation, Takeo Guest House was unfriendly and unhelpful; actually the owner is not Japanese and just called Takeo. I had some big arguments with stuffs and the owner. I've never gotten angry such short period therm. However, this is good place to exchange infos with other Japanese travelers.

2. There are many Japanese retired people staying this guest house. Some of them are absolutely ass-halls. They told me all kinds of shit. They should go back into their ass-hall or go to northern Japan to do some volunteer works. Its much better than wasting their times by watching Japanese news and using PC all day long.

1.宿(タケオゲストハウス)がとても不親切で融通がきかない(日本人との情報交換や出会いの場所としては最高だが) 3回以上はオーナー、スタッフと言い争いをした。こんな短期間で自分をキレさせた場所はない。

2. 宿に定年後の親父共が多々滞在しており、その中の何人かに、言われる義理もないような嫌味をコンコンとされる。タイとかでも多いらしいが、旅人いじくって1日パソコン・NHK見る時間があるなら、東北で汗流してボランティアしてこい！！！と思う。奴らはクズだね。

Visited Anchor Wat. Tom and other smalls today. Those are great, but I was more surprised that there were many many tourist I've never seen before. I expected before a bit but it was even more. I wont go again temples nearby Siem Reap and will visit some temples that are far from here, like Banteay Thhumar where I visited.


今日はアンコールワット、トムを見て来た。素晴らしいのは素晴らしい・・・が、人が多すぎる。くる前から予期はしてたが、これ程とは(^_^;)
感動も何もあったもんじゃない。沢山見てない遺跡はあるが、もうシェムリアップ周辺はこりごり。ここから離れた場所にいくつか良い遺跡があるから、そこをじっくりと行こうと思う。

I took 4 hours to see main temple. In this afternoon, I explored small temples around this village.

4時間かけてメインを見学。その日の午後は、村の周辺にある遺跡を周った。

The most fascinating one was called Sannang Tasock. It's about 1km west of main temple. I rode my bike in bumpy off-road. It's was very difficult to find it because this was totally covered by forest. Eventually I could find it but took awhile. I felt like becoming explorer.

一番感動的だったのが、メインの西にあるサナングタソック遺跡。自転車で悪路を1キロ進む。なかなか見つけるのが難しい、なにせ草木に完全に覆われている。最終的には見つけられたが、結構大変だった。本当、探検してる気分になれます。





It was a temple as others but it kept shape. The atmosphere of that the temple in forest created such long time flow.

他の遺跡達と似ているが、原型をとどめている。木々に覆われた遺跡が何とも言えない永久の時の流れをかもし出している。

After checking several temples, I went back to Paker's home. In that afternoon he took me several places. One was his rice felid and second was a temple located an island in a swamp which normally tourist cannot access because very difficult to find the way.

いくつか遺跡を見た後、パーカァ宅に戻る。彼は家にいて、午後から彼がいろいろと案内してくれた。最初は、彼の所有する米畑。多分どんな感じで農作業をするのか見せたかったのだろう。2ヶ所目は沼の中にある遺跡。ここは普通だと観光客は行けない。沼が深くて行き方が難しいから。






The temple had been collapsed and covered by bush. This is like a real adventure.

寺院は崩れて、草木に覆われていた。






Time flew very fast at that day. Next day, I felt a bit sad to leave this town because I had known many people in this town. They are very friendly and kind to me.

時の流れはあっという間に過ぎ去り、翌日は少しさみしい気分。なぜなら、村の人達と顔見知りになっていたから。

I was very surprised that Paker gave me about 10kg of rice at the end. I want to take all but it's impossible to take all so I took some and gave back rest of those.

パーカァからお別れの際に、米を10キロ近くもらった時はさすがにたまげた。さすがに運ぶ量ではないので、何キロか頂いて残りはお返ししました。

It was very very nice side trip and now I need to go back and head to Siem Reap.

本当、最高な寄り道になった。これから来た道を戻り、シェムリアップに向かいます。

First of all, this temple was built by Jayabarman Ⅶ and enshrine a sun of him passed away, ancient kings and soldier dead by wars against Kingdom of Chanppa, an ancient country in where now Vietnam is.


そもそも、この遺跡群、アンコール朝を築いたジャヤバルマンの7代目が建てた寺院。彼の幼くして亡くなった子供、そして過去に亡くなった王達、近隣チャンパ王国との戦いで亡くなった戦士達の霊をともらう為に建てられたらしい。

Acceding to local, this belongs to Cambodia because many wall arts shows wars against Chanppa.

カンボジア人曰く、壁画のいたる部分で、近隣(ベトナム)チャンパ王国との戦いが描かれているから、これはカンボジアの物らしい。

I heard from local who speaks English
with very local accent, so if I'm wrong, let me correct.

この知識、現地なまりの強い英語を話すローカルから聞いたものなので、間違っていたら訂正してください。

Anyway, I went to the main part of Banteay Chhumar.

そういう事で、バンテアイチュマール遺跡2日目、メインの遺跡に行った。

After entering and walked towered, a huge structure was appeared in front of me. It's absolutely amazing, why they created such a huge structure in such remote area.

ゲートからしばらく歩くと巨大な建造物が目の前に現れる。こんなすごいもんが世界遺産にもならずにこんな辺鄙な場所にあるなんて、圧巻の一言だった。

Most of parts had been collapsed and covered by thick bushes.

ボコボコに崩れた寺院の中から巨大な木がニョキニョキ、草が生い茂っている。





I could go inside by walking on collapsed walls and see full picture.

崩れた部分から寺院の中に入り、全某を見る事ができる。













Seems it will take astronautic times to repair this.

修復作業は進んでいるが気の遠くなる作業だ。おそらく近い将来世界遺産になるだろう。

I was watching chicken fighting. A guy was sitting cross the chicken fighting. I talked to him if there was any temple; I was also looking for a temple to camp.

2ヶ所小さな遺跡を見た後、道端で闘鶏をやっていたので見ていた。鶏が戦っている向こう側に、地元男性がいて、今日の宿(寺)の場所を聞いて




He was absolutely 0 English but seemed he explained to me that I can stay at his home. He was not suspicious looking for me, so I followed him. He lives nearby a small temple and has a family with a little boy and girl. I thought he is okay so decided to stay at his home.

男性は全く英語は話せない。ただ、なにか自分の家に泊まっていいよといいそぶり。怪しい感じの人間ではないので、着いて行く事に。男性は小さな遺跡の１つの近くに住んでいて、小さい子供達がいるようだった。これまでに身についた感覚が大丈夫だと言っていたので、この男性の家に泊めてもらう事に。






His name is Packer, and he is a farmer of rice and has a wife and 5 children.

男性の名前はパーカァーさん。5人の子供達を持つお父さんだ。

This situation reminded me Sumatra; I got invited to stay at local's home many times.

この感じ、スマトラで良くあった。

Seems Japanese are very unusual? for people here because I got several times surrounded by local people when I do things. One time when I was preparing salad, many people came around me and checked what I did. I felt very strange. They are innocent of cause.

この辺りでは日本人はすごい珍しいらしく、何回もローカルの人達に囲まれた。夜にサラダをこしらえている時に、ご近所さん達に囲まれて、ジーと見られていた時は本当変な感じだった。

Anyway, I had a lot of things at the first day of Banteay Chhumar.

そんなこんなで、バンテアイチュマール初日は本当いろいろ沢山あった。

Next day, I will go to the Main Temple and some temples around this area.

翌日はいよいよ本殿とその周りの小さな寺院群見学。

After staying at a temple in Sisophon, I took north to Banteay Chhumar Temple. It was 70km oneway side trip on the way to Siem Reap.

シソポンのお寺で一泊した後、進路を北に取った。向かうはバンテアイチュマール遺跡。片道70キロの寄り道。



The road was very rough, sandy and very dusty. My bicycle and myself got totally dust out.

道は、ボコボコ、砂砂、ホコリだらけ、おかげで着くまでには自転車、自分自身ホコリまみれになった。





On the way, I saw many cars with people on the min-clearance operations. Seems still many work to do these area.

道中、地雷撤去作業員を乗せた車両と何回もすれちがった。おそらくまだこの地域には沢山埋まっているんだろう。



After cycling such a dusty road for 5 hours, I arrived to Banteay Chhumar.

ホコリまみれになりながらも、5時間かけてバンテアイチュマールに到着。


When I first looked at the google map to find this place, i found a strange shape on the map. I didn't think too much of it at that time. Now, I know what that was when I got there.

最初、GoogleMAPでバンテアイチュマールを調べた時、変な形を地図上で見つけたけど、その時はあまり深くは考えなかった。到着した今、ようやくその形の意味がわかった。



This temple is surrounded by huge moat which is about 400 square meters. The main temple is in the center land. I couldn't see it covered by thick vegetation.

この遺跡は、1辺だいたい400mくらいのお堀で囲まれていて、本殿自体はその中の島に位置しているようだ。ただ、うっそうと木が生い茂っていて、本殿は見る事はできない。





I was very very excited by only seeing such huge structure, so how I will be after seeing inside.

この外側だけ見ただけでも本当大興奮。内側見たらどうなってしまうのだろうか。。

At that time, it was already 3pm, so I left main parts for tomorrow and looked around village. Then I found that there are many small temples in this area; I saw some sines of temples in this village.

もう3時くらいだったのでメインは明日にお預けして、村を散策。すると、村の中に沢山の遺跡が点在している事に気づく。

I visited couple of them. Seems those are totally untouched, so I needed to go through thick bushes. I felt like I'm a Indiana Johns. There are many plants that have spikes so very painful to go through. I really recommend to have long sleeve shirts and long pants if you come.

まだ明るかったので、いくつか行ってみる事に。何も手を付けられていないようで、全く草に埋れてしまっている。なので、見るには草むらを分け入る感じ。ただこの草、トゲだらけで本当痛い。行くなら長袖長ズボンをオススメします。遺跡探しをしている時は、まったくインディージョーンズになった気分。

Those temples have been collapsed, so I couldn't see full picture of those. However, those collapsed temples covered by thick bushes made atmosphere of long long time flow, so I was very very fascinated.

2箇所行ったが、双方ともだいぶ崩れていて、草木に覆われていた。ただ、この崩れた寺院を草木がおおっている光景が何とも、永久の時を感じさせていて、とても神秘的。





On the way to other small temples, I had a good encountering.

次の寺院を見に行こうとしていた時、とても良い出会いがあった。
