I went up to the temple to check if I can see sun-rise.

明日の初日の出スポットのチェックで、山寺に行ってきた。





The result was negative by some reasons. One was an island seems to be shading. Second was so many scare monkeys on the way up and dogs around hill.

結果はネガティブ。1番にどうやら、島が影になっている。2つ目に、山に大量の凶暴サルがいるのと、その山の周りに野犬がわんさか。

In Buddhism, people take care of animal a lot, so animals are very relax. However, sometimes they are very rude to people; stealing food, chasing and etc...

仏教ではとても動物に対して寛容だ。だから動物もとてもリラックスしている。しかし！時として奴らは、人に対してとても無礼だ。例えば、食い物を盗んだり、追いかけてきたり。

After cycling south part of Thailand, more dogs are walking along the road because of more Buddhists population.

タイ南部から抜けるにつれて、野犬が道を歩いているのを頻繁に見るようになってきた。

I have been chased by them almost every day...I hate.

ここ最近は毎日のように追いかけられてる。

Then what I got is this.. A long stick.
そんで手に入れたのがこれ。



When I grasped and raised up, they normally stopped. If they keep chasing, I hit them.

だいたい、これを握って持ち上げた時点で奴らは逃げて行く。時として追いかけ続けて来る時は、思いっきりこれでぶん殴る。


Tomorrow is new year, why I'm explain this....
明日は新年。何を説明してるんだ。。


Anyway, I will try to see the new year sun-rise somewhere on the beach.

I'm way behind my schedule; I was supposed to be somewhere in Laos during this time. Hope I can make to get into China by March 6th since my china visa is good by then.

非常に当初の予定より遅れております。予定では今頃ラオスにいる頃。中国ビザが3月6日迄に入らないといけないやつだから、何とか間に合うとよいのだが。

Now, I'm in Prap Khiri Khan which is located the narrowest part of Thailand.

今、プラクリカンというタイで最も細い場所にある街にいます。





I have been cycling on highway No.4 that goes along the Burma border. Sometime I could see a village in Burma from this side.

しばらくの間、ミャンマー国境にそってのびる国道4号を激走してきました。場所によってはミャンマー側の村が見えます。



Camped out at a temple; of cause I asked before.

お寺で一泊。もちろん許可は取りました。





They gave me a lot of treats. A monk, Mr. Em, took care of me. He was such a nice monk.

和尚さん達にやまほど世話になりました。エムさんというお坊さんが特に良くしてくれて、謝謝。




Even though I'm behind schedule, I will stay here for 3 nights because its new year.

遅れ気味ですが、やっぱり新年なんでここで3日ほど滞在します。

Also I found a good spot to see the sun-rise of new year.

それに初日の出を見るのに最高な場所を見つけたんです。

A temple located at the top of a small mountain, and it's faces on east coast.

寺が小さな山の上にあって、しかも東側が海。



Will see how it goes. A sun-set was perfect.

さてどうなるでしょうか。日の入りは最高でしたよ。

In Christmas, I arrived to Ranong where a ferry going to Burma is. When I was looking for a place to stay, I met a korean cyclist. Since I was supposed to take days off in an island, I asked him to go with. He is not really in rush on his schedule so we decided to go together.

今日はクリスマス、ラノーンというミャンマー行きのフェリーが出る街まで来ました。
明日からしばらく島で休息を取るつもりで、一晩だけ泊まる宿を街中で探してると、韓国人サイクリストのジョンミンと遭遇。いろいろ話は進み、一緒に島に行く事に。



An island we picked was Payang island that is 2 hours from the port of Ranong.

選んだのは、ボートで2時間の場所にあるパヤン島。



In next morning, we went to a port. The port that is located 5 km from the town was really small. The cost was 150B for a person and 50B for a bicycle.

翌朝、街から5キロ離れた場所にある港へ。港はかなりこじんまり。大人一人150バーツ。自転車は50。




After couple of hours taking a small jetty, we arrived this island. There are very quiet and no cars running.

小さなボートで2時間、島に到着。島には車は走ってなくて、とてもおちついた雰囲気。






Beach was not extremely beautiful but very nicely quiet; not packed by westerners.

海は感動するほどの綺麗さではないが、欧米人で埋め尽くされてる他の島々に比べれば、とてもゆったりとしてて良い感じ。



We cycled few and found a very nice spot to camp.

数キロ島の中を走って、キャンプにちょうど良い場所を発見。

This is the place for us to take some breaks.
ここが今回の休息場所。



We met a backpackers, Enbrem, from Turkey on the ferry, and he joined us.

トルコ人バックパッカーのエンブレムとフェリーで出会い、彼も一緒にキャンプする事に。



There are many activities to do around here; fishing, correcting shells and swimming. Also there are nice spring nearby that we can correct drinking water.

とても良いロケーションで、海水浴はもちろん、釣りや、貝拾いも楽しめる。近くに水が湧き出てて、飲み水も確保可能。

After doing some activities, drinking under the beautiful sun set. I remember that I had a nice birthday with nice sun set with nice people. I might see nice sun set in new year.

一通り海辺で楽しんだ後は、友人達と夕日を見ながら一杯。誕生日も同じようはシチュエーションだった。もしかしたら、新年も綺麗な夕日を見ながら過ごすかもしれない。

After cycling 130km that took me 8 hours, ate like a cow.
8時間かけて130キロ走った後、牛のように食いました。

A westerners free beach; normally beaches in south of Thailand are packed by westerners. U don't feel this is Thailand.

欧米人が全くいないビーチ。タイ南部のビーチは通常欧米人だらけで、タイにいるんだかわからなくなります。

Finally left Krabi. Before I was supposed to take a day off in Krabi but ended up 4 nights; nice guest house, people and town.

後ろ髪を引かれる思いの中クラビを出発。本来1日の休息を取るつもりが4泊になった。

If I didn't know this guest house, I would be very disappointed such crowded beach by westerners; I hate crowded places.

このゲストハウスを知らなかったら、おそらく欧米人でウジャウジャのビーチにがっかりしてたでしょう。本当に自分人混みがキライなんです。

Now, I'm heading north. It's very nice to cycle in this area; a lot of beautiful limestone mountains create unique scenery.

そんなこんなで再び北上開始。この辺りは石灰岩の山が沢山あってとてもユニークな景色。走ってて飽きません。



By the way, it's almost Christmas. I don't really feel it because I've been in such areas since last summer. Like my birthday, I will most likely be in strange place.

そういえばもうすぐクリスマスですね。こういう場所に夏からずっといるから、全然そんな感じがしません。誕生日もそうだったけど、また変な場所でクリスマスを過ごしそうです。

Met a Japanese professional climber at my stay in Krabi. Luckily, he let me go rock-crumbing with him.

日本人プロ山岳ガイドさんに偶然クラビで泊まっている宿で出会い、ロッククライミングに連れて行ってもらえる事になった。

Actually, Krabi is very famous for Rock-Climbing, and many people come from all over the world to crime this beautiful mountain with seeing breathtaking view.

実はクラビはロッククライミングでもとても有名で、この綺麗な山と海をを見ながら岩を登るために、世界中からクライマーが訪れる場所らしい。

This was my first try , but it was actually on my wanting list. Today was great opportunity for me so it was no doubt to try.

今回が初めての挑戦だが、実際前々からやりたいやりたいと思ってたし、文句なしに挑戦する事に。

We tried 4 different spots. At the beginning, I did a very beginner wall, level4 to practice, and made on finish point.

今日は4箇所違う岩に登った。最初はレベル4の超初心者コースで練習、最後までたどり着く。



However, I used my arms muscle more than legs, so my arms got stiff totally.

ただ、腕を使い過ぎた為、うでがすっかり疲れてしまう。


In Next walls, level 5 and 6a＋, I got to the finish point but fell off 2 times in the wall level 5, and 5 times in level 6a＋.
In Rock-Climbing, main part of muscle that we need to use are legs. If you used much of arms, it makes very hard to go up eventually.

次の壁、レベル5、レベル6A＋では最後まで行ったが、レベル5では2回落ち、6では5回も落ちた。
どうやらロッククライミングは足が基本で腕は補佐役。腕の筋肉を使いすぎると、すぐに疲れて登れなくなってしまう。



Crumbing itself is very fun, but the view from rock are breathtaking.
Very awesome view of beach that only rock-climber can see !! Much nicer than being beach where many tourists are.

クライミングじたいも楽しいが、岩からの眺めはヤバイ。

ロッククライマーだけが見れる、上から見たビーチの眺め。観光客だらけのビーチにいるより、自分はこっち派です。






At the last try at the wall, level 6A＋, I payed more attention on my legs. Then, finally I made it without any falling down. The view from the end seems more nicer than the views I saw in other. The feeling is like after passing very steep hill by bike without pushing.

最後にレベル6A＋の壁に挑戦。今回は足元に神経を集中。
そしてついに落ちる事なく、フィニッシュ！！フィニッシュポイントからの景色はどことなく今までの景色より綺麗に見えました。自転車で急な坂を手押しする事なく登り切った後の感覚です。






My first Rock-Climbing was definitely awesome and I never forget that I've done this in such beautiful place.

初ロッククライミングは文句なしに最高。こんなロケーションでできた経験は忘れる事はないでしょう

I very thank for the professional climber to give me this opportunity and will more practice after I come back to Japan.

こんな経験のきっかけをくれた山岳ガイドさんに本当に感謝。日本に帰ったらもっと練習します。

Seems it's true that Thailand is the country of smile. People mostly smile when they make an eye contact.
It's very nice while riding bike.

タイが微笑みの国というのはいささかウソではなさそうです。みんな目線が合うとニコッとします。自転車に乗ってる時に微笑みかけられるのは気持ちが良いもんです。


After cycling 5 days from Penang, I arrived to Krabi, a beach resort in south of Thailand.

5日間ペナンから走り、今Krabiというビーチが有名な街まで来ました。

明日は何をしよう。

Saw mant "Tuku Tuku" in Trang, a town 120km south east of here. I thought those are only in Bangkok.

トランという街でトゥクトゥクが沢山走ってるのを見ました。バンコクだけだと思ってた。



I met a guy,Ed from the U.K. who started his motor cycle tour from kuala lumpur. He brought his Honda 90 super cub from the U.K. and going back to his country.

エドというイギリス人サイクリストに会う。ホンダの90ccスーパーカブを自分の国から持って来て、クアラルンプールからイギリスまで行くらしい。

Sew many waterfalls on the way here. ここにくるまでの道のり、滝が沢山

Its getting dark. I was looking for a place to stay. This is time to visit Police office. I visited them and asked if there were any hotels or home-stay. If they said no, I would ask to let me camp out by police office. But they showed me where a home-stay is.

だいぶ暗くなってきてところで今晩の宿を探し始める。こんな時は警察署に行くにかぎる。もし宿がなければ、警察署にテントを張らせてもらうつもりだったが、どうやらホームステイがあるらしい。


It was very clean room with air conditioning. I was surprised that I could find one in such a small village.

宿はとても綺麗でエアコン着き。こんな小さな村で泊まれる場所を見つけられるとは思ってもいなかった。



The owner was also very helpful. Even though I couldn't speak English at all, he tried very hard to give me a informations. Even he took me his mosque(people in south of Thailand are mostly Muslim), nice restaurant and nice water falls.

ここのオーナーもまたとても良い人で、英語が全く話せないのにもかかわらず、一生懸命情報を提供してくれた。しかも、彼の通うモスク(タイの南部はほとんどの人がイスラム教みたい)や、美味しいレストラン、近くの滝に連れて行ってくれたりもした。

Because of him, my first impression of Thailand was very good.

ご主人のおかげでタイの第一印象は最高です。

The god of Taman; I just named, didn't let me enter Thailand easily. I probably made her angly because I killed a lot of leeches.

タマンの神(勝手に名付けたけど)は簡単にはタイに入らせてはくれなかった。多分、タマンネガラでヒルを殺し過ぎたからだろうか。

The wind blew against where I go, so it was hard to push peddle. It pushed me back very slow. Many cyclists hate head wind. But eventually go to a village located 20km away from the border. I choose a local road R15 to cross the border because this road go through Tahal Ban National Park.

向かい風。ペダルを押すのが辛い。こいでも押し戻される。だいたいのサイクリストは向かい風が1番嫌い。まぁそれでも、ようやくボーダー20キロ手前に到着。今回、15号線を国境越えに選んだ。この道はタハンバン国立公園の中を通ってるからだ。



Of cause, N.P. normally located in mountainous area, I needed to go up.

もちろん国立公園はだいたい山の中。登らないといけない。

In this map, see many switch-backs. I pushed myself very hard but as I said before that my legs became already super man, I could pass those eventually.

この地図からもわかるようにスイッチバックの連続。ただ、前に言ったように自分の足は今やスーパーマンと化している。



At the top, I could see gorgeous view of where I came. I felt the got of Taman now forgave me and said good-bye.

最後、これまで通って来た道のりを見渡す絶景スポットへ。タマンの神はようやく自分を許してくれたようだ。何となくサヨナラを言われたような気がする。



After about 10 kilometers going down, reached the border. It's very small and only few people I saw.

そこから10km下りボーダーへ。ゲートはとてもこじんまりとしてて、並んでたのは数人だけ。



Finally, now, I'm in Thailand.
ようやくタイに入国。

There were some small stores in this side. After that the road goes into jungle.

タイサイドには数件の露店。そこから道はジャングルの中へ。





On the way down, I stopped by a stream coming out from a cave. There are so many little fish that I probably saw in aquarium store in my town. I really like to correct those fish and find out what kind of fish those are.

下り途中、洞窟から湧き出てくる小川で止まってみると、そこには熱帯魚屋で見た事のある小魚が沢山。思わず興奮。これを採取してどの種類の魚なのか確かめてみたいもんです。



Like before hiking in Taman Negara, I found many kind of water plants that i know in streams.

タマンネガラでもそうだったけど、こっちの小川には知ってる水草なんかが生えてる。

I think if people who like aquarium came here and watched these, they will be very excited. For me also, always checking streams on the way is always exciting moments during a day .

アクアリウム好きな人が来て、これをみたら本当興奮するだろう。自分もまた、小川の中をチェックするのは興奮させてくれるひと時なんです。

What I want to see in the last night of Malaysia was a beautiful Mosque. In here, a town "Alor Star", there is one of the most beautiful mosque; people says, in Malaysia.

マレーシア最後の夜にモスクを見たくてアロースターという街に来た。この国で一番綺麗と評されるモスクがあるそうだ。

Since I wont go through muslim countries by central Asia, I wanted to see this.

中央アジアに入るまでイスラムの国は通らないから、見納めにモスクが見たくなったからだ。

I got here at 4pm. Took a shower and looked around here. About before sun set, went to the mosque.

午後4時に街に着き、街を歩き周ってから、夕刻頃にモスクへ。

The sun was just about right next to the mosque, it was one of best view in my list of Malaysia. Couldn't stop taking picture. Hope I can update some photo taken by my first camera in my web photo album soon.

太陽が沈む間際。自分のマレーシア絶景リストにノミネートさせる、素晴らしい光景を見れた。写真を撮る手が止まらない。自分の第一カメラで撮った写真を早くアップできる事を願いたい。


At last.....a bit serious.
In Malaysia, people in different race live peacefully, and they strongly proud of living in here. This is what some country still fighting need.

最後に、ちょっと真剣に。
マレーシアでは違った人種が平和に暮らしていて、とても自分達の国に誇りを持っている。ドンパチやってるいろんな国に見習って欲しいもんだ。

I still don't really figure out what things make this country such way. For my guessing, many cultures came into this county historically since this area was one of the main transition point where many ships from different countries stopped. For instance, England was used to colonize this country, and Indians came long ago to trade. I think people are very good at how to manage themselves in new cultures.

未だにはっきりと何がこの国をこうさせてるのか分からない。ただ、想像するに、この国は歴史的に交易の要所だったゆえ、いろんな国の文化が入り混んで、人もこの環境でどう順応するか自然に身についてるんだと思う。インド人がこの国に入って来て物の取引をしたり、イギリスが植民地として長い間いつづけたのがいい例だ。

On the other hand, there are still big gap between rich and poor. Seems a policy "Bumiputera", a government policy that pushes up middle class, don't work properly. When I have a conversation with a local local, he says that that policy works only few wealthy people and the money still goes to only rich people. Because of that people didn't have much resources to know the real; TV or News paper which most of them run by government.

一方で、この国も貧富の差は激しいようだ。プミプトラっていう、中間層を押し上げる政策も、ローカルと話してた感じだとあまりうまく機能してないみたい。どうやら、つい最近まで国が所有するテレビや新聞が国民の一般的な情報源で、本来知らなきゃならない情報を知る事があまりできなかったみたい。

Now they got Internet and there are not strong restriction. People get smarter and more power to say what they need.

今はインターネットが普及して、政府の規制も厳しくないみたいだから、どんどん国民ね頭が良くなって、彼等自ら声を挙げるチャンス増えてるようだ。

Malaysian are very smart, and this country grows fast, so near future they might become a reader of south east Asia.

マレーシア人はすごく頭が良いし、どんどん成長してる国だから、もしかしたらこの先、東南アジアのリーダー的な存在になるかも。

Cycling in Malaysia was pretty interesting.

マレーシアのサイクリングは興味深いもんでした。


What waiting for me in next country, Thailand....

次のタイでは何が待っているんだろうか。。。

After looking around this town during weekend, went to the embassy of Thailand which was about 5 km away from Georgetown.

週末街中を見て周り、今日ジョージタウンから5キロ程離れた場所にあるタイの大使館に行って参りました。

The embassy was quite small and not busy at all.
大使館はとてもこじんまりとしてて、全然混んでなかった。



I wanted to get a 2 month double entry, but they had only 2 month and 3 month single for us.

2ヶ月のダブルエントリーが欲しかったけど、今はシングルの2ヶ月か3ヶ月のみらしい。

Filling out a form and gave it to an officer at 9am, then picked up my passport with the visa by 3pm. It's quicker than I thought. Cost 110RM

アプライフォームに記入し、係官へ9時に提出。 15時には出来上がり。思ってた以上に早い。費用は3000円くらい。



From tomorrow, I will head to Thailand, and it will take only 2 days to get the border.
明日からタイに向けて出発します。国境まではもう2日の距離。





A beach in Penang island. It's not interesting place. Since I know the ocean in Okinawa. it's not fascinating.
ペナンのビーチ。沖縄の海を知ってるから、あんまり感動的なもんでもなかった。



Every morning, in many places you can see street markets.
毎朝いろんな場所で朝市が開かれてる。





During night, so many food carts came out along streets. All of them are really good. 夜になると屋台がそこらじゅうから道沿いに湧き出てくる。みんな美味しい。check a photo album to see more. アルバムに写真を沢山のっけてます。
I consider Penang as Kuidaore which means the town of eating. 個人的に、ペナンは食い倒れの街






The breakfast I alway eat. A guy moves very fast to make a chap chay. 毎日のように食べてる朝飯。すごいスピードで一枚のチャプチャイを作ってる。

It was not interesting place for me to be in Cameron Highland, so I spent only a night there and took off.

キャメロンハイランドはあんまり興味深い場所じゃなかったんで、一日休んで直ぐに出発。

Since then, I took freeway No.1 for 3 days. Now, am in Georgetown which is only 3 days away by bike from the border of Thailand.

それから3日間、国道1号をひたすら進み、ジョージタウンまで来ました。ここからタイのボーダーまで自転車で3日間の距離。







The reason I stopped here is to get 2 month visa for Thailand. Will apply for it on next Monday and take off on Tuesday.

ここに来た理由はタイの2ヶ月VISAを申請するため。月曜日に申請して火曜日に出発します。

The japanese traveler i shared time in Melaka and Taman Negara, Ide san also stays same hostel here so i met him again.
マラッカとタマンネガラで時間を共にした日本人旅人のイデさんもここのホステルで滞在してて、久々の再開。

I feel I will see him again somewhere on the way.
多分この先でもまた会うような気がします。

Now, I'm in Cameron Highland. Took 3 days from Taman Negara. The road was very nice and surrounded by thick forest. I found many interesting things.

今、キャメロンハイランドにいます。タマンネガラから3日間。道はとても良い感じに森に囲まれていて、いいもんが沢山見れました。

What is this? Might be a kind of beetle, 何これ？多分、カブトムシの仲間かと


I camped out at police station one night. There are a lot of these in their property. They call this "Orautan". Sweet and tasty.

一泊、警察署でキャンプさせてもらった。敷地内にこんな実が沢山。甘くて美味しい。

In Melaka and Taman Negara, shared a lot of interesting time with Ide san. Now, we are heading to different distentions; I am heading to Cameron Highland, Ide san goes to Penan island by bus. Hope see him again somewhere in the world.

マラッカとタマンネガラではイデサンといろんな経験をさせてもらった。これからお互いに別々の目的地に向かう。自分はキャメロンハイランド、イデサンはペナンへバスで向かう。世界の何処かでまた会えると良いな～



In Taman Negara, had a lot of fun, but had also a bad thing happened. My gloves were stolen by someone. I should have watched out my stuff as much as I did at the beginning. Those were not very expensive and don't make a big deal but make me sad bit.

タマンネガラは本当に楽しかった。しかしながら、サイクリンググローブが盗まれるという、少し嫌な経験もあった。少し木が緩んでいたのかもしれない。高いもんでもないし、大勢に影響はないが、少し悲しい。

Of cause I will get a police report and apply my insurance.

もちろん警察に届け出て、保険申請はさせて頂きます。


To brace myself again and move forward.

Staying in Taman Negara for 5 days, I took several hikes.

タマンネガラ国立公園で5日間、数回に渡りハイキングをした。

It's very impressed to see different vegetation, animal and bugs of jungle.

ジャングルの中のみた事もない植生や、動物、虫を見るのは本当に刺激的だ。

I met a Japanese guy, Ide san, again in the hostel; I met him in Melaka.
We hiked to a place for watching animals that people call "Bum Bum". We stayed over night in Jungle. It was also very nice experience for us to stay here. We could see a deer, an animal flying a tree to a tree, light bugs and etc. It was very creepy also...

以前、マラッカで会ったイデさんという日本人旅人とも再開、一緒にブンブンという動物観察小屋に行った。そこで2人で宿泊し、夕方から動物が現れるのを待つ。薄気味悪かったが、けっこう楽しかった。シカやムササビ、ホタルなんかを目撃。

However, in these hikes, the biggest problem I didn't expect was this.

ただ、これらのハイキングでジャングルを歩き回るのに、予想してなかった問題が(^^;;こいつです。


Leeches, ヒル





Lleches are everywhere on the trail and waiting for people to go through. Once step on them, they crime on my legs and suck my blood. The bleeding doesn't stop in an hour. I was probably sucked my blood for a litter total during my stay in this N.P.

登山道にヒルが山ほど。人が通り過ぎるのを待っていて、その上を通ると、靴からよじのぼって来て、大量の血をすわれる。一旦吸われると、血が1時間は止まらない。多分、国立公園滞在期間中、1リットルくらい吸われたんじゃないかと\(//∇//)\
