It took me 7 days, including a day off at Ghanzi, to reach to the Namibia border.

途中1日Ghanziのキャンプ場でオフ日を取った後、7日目にナミビアに入った。

There was no exchange guys at the border, so I had to change the money at a shop. The rate was really bad. It was ripping off.
I bought a takeout lunch at a restaurant. The same menu that costed $2 in Botswana was about $5. Things became even more expensive in Namibia.

両替人がいないので、商店やらで両替をしたけれどレートが悪すぎ。大分損をした気分だ。
飯屋があって昼飯を買ったのだけれど、ボツワナなら200円ちょいで買えた物が、500円もした。もうここからはアフリカじゃない気がする。



Still the scenery doesn't change. It's driving me mad. I haven't made descent conversation with anyone for last few days.
I was about becoming crazy, when I met a English cyclist, Charlie.

何も無い茂みを走り続けると頭がおかしくなりそうになる。人がいないのでちゃんとした会話をしてない日が続いている。
そんな矢先、イギリス人サイクリストのチャーリーとバッタリ遭遇した。



He was also in a long haul. He crossed Central Asia in the same timing when I was there. He went through east Africa from Turkey and reached to Cape Town already. Now, he was on the way back to England via west Africa.
Sadly, his bicycle was stolen in cape and made a new with some parts from second hand bicycles.

彼も長い事自転車で旅をしていて、中央アジアを抜けたのも同じタイミング。自分がオーストラリアで避寒している時に東アフリカを走り、今はイギリスに帰る為に西アフリカ北上にチャレンジする途中らしい。南アで自転車を盗まれたらしくて、いろいろ苦労して中古の自転車を組み立てたそうだ。

I wished I could cycle with him but he was on opposite direction. We just had a lunch together, and then I left. It is the time for me to be alone again.

頑張ってもらいたい。残念だが彼とは向かう方向が逆なので、昼飯を一緒にしただけで別れた。そしてまた一人で黙々と走る時間が始まる。

For Namibia, the cycling tour seemed not easy. There were all fenced off along the road. It was very difficult to find a place to camp. I had to cross the fence in couple of time. It is for keeping animals inside, I understand, but It was very annoying.
Moreover, there were no space for cyclists on the road, same bushy scenery, very long distance to a next village, head wind etc.... I almost start hating this country.
I want to finish as soon as possible.

写真ではわかりずらいけれど、ナミビアは道路沿いが隙間無くフェンスで囲われている。動物が入って来ないようにだと思うけれど、かなりうっとうしい。野宿場所を探すのがやたらと疲れる。2回は仕方なくフェンスを越えて野宿せざる負えなかった。
道路の路肩は他のアフリカ諸国と同じく無いし、景色変わらないし、補給距離長いし、向かい風だし、全く小言しか思い浮かばない国だ。早く日本に帰りたい。なんて弱気になっている今日この頃。

The next destination is the capital of Namibia, Windhoek. I have to cross Kalahari desert. There are supposed to be nothing along the way. It will be 820km to go.
It would be very easy if I take a bus or taxi, but of cause not.

これから向かうのはナミビアの首都ウインドフック。カラハリ砂漠の何も無い場所を永遠と走らないといけない。その距離820km。正直ダルイ。バスや車で一気に行けたらどんなに楽だろうか。でもそんな選択は私には無い。

The only I could see was bush, bush and bush. The scenery doesn't change for miles and miles.

永遠と茂みが続き、全く景色が変わらない。




I wished I had some music but didn't. My Chinese made MP3 player had been broken, and my iPhone didn't have any inside.
The Japanese things kept in my mind. Seemed homesick again. It is cherry blossom festival season right now. I wished I could go..... I'm cycling in nowhere.

音楽でもあれば良いのだけれど、手持ちの中国製スピーカーは壊れ、iphoneには音楽は入って無い。考えるのは日本の事ばかり。今頃花見か～ 花見しながら酒飲みたいな～




It was the first time to see the sign post with South Africa. It is only 2000km left. The distance was looked very short since I covered most of the distance already. I kept saying in my mind "I'm almost there"

ここに来て初めて南アフリカの表示が出てきた。ゴールが近いのを教えてくれる。あともう少し、2000kmなんて今まで走って来た距離からしたら爪の先のようなもの。そう言い聞かせて走り続ける。




There were nothing but not completely. There were some little villages and cattle posts along the way, so I could get some life supplies as I cycled at least 100km.

何も無いけれど、補給が出来ないわけでは無い。100km走れば、大抵ちょっとした村や牛の管理集落があって水の補給は出来る。



I camped one night at a cattle post. A caw guy gave me a watermelon. Inside of it was not red as I expected but the taste of it was watermelon.
Just grubbing inside was African style.

1泊野宿させてもらった牛追いの兄さんにスイカをご馳走になった。こっちのスイカはあんまり赤くないけれど、味はスイカで美味しい。豪快に手を突っ込んで食べるのがアフリカ流らしい。





San Bush man was aboriginal African. They still live in this area. As I went to some villages, the people looked different from African. They were more brown, small eyes and simple face. Looked more like Asian. The woman at a restaurant where I had a lunch also belongs to San tribe.

この辺にはサン族が沢山住んていて、村に行くと顔付きが違う人を良く見かける。彼等はアフリカの先住民。どういうわけか、目が細く顔がのっぺりとしている。いっ時入ったレストランのおばちゃんもサン族。


They seemed more calm and quiet. They used to live in many part of Southern Africa but now only live in some part of Kalahari desert.

アフリカ系の人達よりも物静かな人達なような気もする。一時はアフリカ南部に広く住んでいたそうだが、他部族の侵入もあって今はカラハリ砂漠の一部でひっそりと生活しているらしい。



She cooked such a nice lunch. It was the best meal in Botswana.

おばちゃんが出してくれたランチはめちゃ美味しかった。ボツワナNo1だろう。



There were a lot of butterflies along the way like a falling cherry blossom as I passed by.

道路脇にはたまに蝶々がかたまりで集まっていて、近くを通ると花吹雪のように舞い散る。

At a night, sparkling stars on the wide open sky. In the morning, waking up as the sun getting up.

夜は満点の星空。アカシアの木陰から見る星空はいくらみていても飽きる事は無い。そして日の出と共に起きる




Then, start cycling again....
そしてまた延々と続く道を今日も走る。

I took only a day off and decided to join the tour from the camp.
This is a bit different from normal safari tour. We used a small raft to go through the Delta. Then camped in an island over night.

1日休憩を挟んでから早速宿でオカバンゴツアーを申し込み出発した。今回のツアーは普通のサファリとはちと違っていて、モコロという小さな筏を使って湿原内を進み、湿原内の島を散策したりしながら一泊して帰るといったもの。この写真がモコロ




This raft is not really reliable looking but quite stable. It holds heavier things than I thought.

頼りないが、案外安定していて荷物も沢山乗せられる。

I went to the tour with 5 other guests, a guide and couple of women helping us.
We used three Mokoros and headed to the island where we had to camp.

一緒に行ったのは宿で集まった5人とガイド1名、お手伝いの姉さん達2人の計8名。モコロを3隻使って島に向かった。



There were many water lily in the Delta. The quiet surface was redirecting the sky. It was a heaven like atmosphere.
By the way, the stem of lily was eatable, so I picked some on the way to the camp and had those with tomatoes and beef I brought as dinner. It was grate taste.

湿原内は睡蓮が咲き乱れていて、空が静かな水面に映り極楽浄土のような雰囲気。ちなみにこの睡蓮の花は食べらるらしく、自分はキャンプの周りで沢山摘んでおいた物を夜トマトとコンビーフと一緒に炒めて頂いた。シャキシャキしてかなりの美味







The water of the river was browned by tannin and full of water plants on the bottom.
I've seen those plants at an aquarium shop in Japan but those I found here were much healthier.

タンニンで茶色の水中には水草がビッシリ。アレもコレも自然に生える草は根がしっかりとしていて生き生している。





We were on the Mocoro about 1.5h and arrived to the island.
Pitching our tents at the camp sight. The camp sight was located absolutely wildlife area, so anything could be happened in any time.

1時間半くらいかけて島に移動し、拠点となるキャンプを設営した。ここは野生動物の生活圏の真っ只中、いつ何が出てきてもおかしくない。




After pitching the tents, we had some free times. I tried to observe some life in the water.

島に着いてからはしばらく自由時間で、自分は小魚や水草採取に取り組んだ。






I was so excited seeing those spices that I've seen in only aquarium. I got satisfied enough here already.
I started getting an idea of making an aquarium with African spices when I went back.

日本の水草屋でも見かける魚や水草がそこかしこに生えていて、もう自分はこれだけで十分満足だった。
自然に泳ぐ熱帯魚は発色が濃くてこれまた綺麗。
帰ったらアフリカに生えるの水草や魚だけでアクアリウムを作ってみたい。



Other things we've done were swimming at a natural pool and walking safari in the late afternoon and next morning. We saw a group of zebras, impala, wildebeest, warthogs, jackal, owl, etc....

これ以外は湿原内にある自然のプールで泳いだり、ウォーキングサファリも体験。着いた日の夕方と翌早朝の2回、シマウマの群やインパラ、フクロウ、イボイノシシ、ヌー、ジャッカルなんかを見る事が出来た。茂みを歩き続けるのは案外疲れる。









The best thing of this tour was camping in wildlife area. I have been cycling for over half year in Africa but have not really done for camping in the wildlife area. It was good opportunity.

このツアーで一番良かったのはやはり野生動物の生活圏での野宿体験、こんな経験は1人だとなかなかできるもんじゃない。自転車旅中はなるべく人間の生活圏でするようにしていたから、これだけアフリカを走っているのに野生動物の生活圏で野宿をした事は無い。



During the night, it was quite creepy. I heard clearly Hyenas calling each other and owls.
The guide warned us about safety rules during the night.
The animals are very active during the night so had to be aware special attentions.
I was really scared to go to the toilet so just done at the bush nearby.
The guid told us that as long as we stay inside of the tents, we are 100% safe.
It was the really exciting night.


人間が出す音の無い世界は、ハイエナが仲間を呼び合う音やフクロウの声が良く聞こえて気持ち悪いくらい静かだった。
夜は野生動物が活発に動き出す為、トイレに行くのもドキドキして、トイレまで怖くて行けず、テント近くの茂みで済ませたりした。
ガイドが言うにはテントにいる限り100%安全だそうだ。動物がテントに来る事もあるらしく、絶対外に出てはダメと注意を受けた。その注意がさらに緊張感を拡張させて自分的にはかなり刺激的な夜となった。




The morning sun rise. It was so beautiful.
The Okavango was the last long stop. I have only 2200km left to Cape Town. I will work very hard with my body and soul.

これは翌日のモーニングサファリ途中で見た湿原から登るご来光。多分、こんな経験は一生できないだろうな。
これがゴールでもある喜望峰前の最後の任務だった。ケープタウンまで残すところ2200km、ブチ抜きます。

Okavango Delta is one of the highlights of the East Africa. It was only my focus in Botswana. I came here to see the Delta.

オカバンゴ湿原は今回の東アフリカルートでのハイライトの一つ。これを見る為にボツワナに来たと言っても良いくらい楽しみにしていた。

Okavango is the biggest inland Delta in the world. The huge amount of rainfall dropped into the Angola flows slowly into the Delta and eventually drys up in the Kalahari desert.
Enormous amount of animals following this water stay in this area, and also for me, the best place to see the life in the water; fish and aqua plants.

この湿地は世界最大の内陸性湿地帯で、アンゴラで降った雨が長い期日をかけてボツワナまで流れ込み、海に到達する事無く砂漠で旅を終える。水を求めて沢山の動物が集まる場所でもあるし、魚や水草も楽しめるとあって水草好きな自分にとってはかなり魅力的な場所だ。



Moun is the headquarter for the people visiting Delta, so there were many over landers in the town. I took 7 days for 680km from Bulawayo so was quite tired. It is the time to take some rest.

マウンはそのオカバンゴ湿原に行くための入口で沢山のオーバタンダー(自動車やバイクの旅行者)が集結する町。ブラワヨから680km、7日かけてようやく到着した。ここから長めの休休息です。巨大Ｔボーンステーキ。疲れた身体に染み渡りました。

As my map shows, I had to go through Nxai Pan National Park on the way to Maun.
People always said "are you not afraid of animals" like I had same in Zimbabwe.

地図で見るとわかりやすいのだけれど、マウンに向かう途中で、Nxai Pan National Park内を通過しないといけない。この区間は野生動物が沢山いるらしく、ジンバブエの時のように散々地元の人達に脅かされていた。

Of cause, I have no way to take a bus or hitchhike on my way. I took off Gweta in the early in the morning. Then after 20km passing through the N.P., I found some rock looking object moving in the bush.

私にはバスやヒッチハイクなんぞの選択肢は全く無い。この区間を1日で抜けるべく、Gwetaを朝一に出発し走り始めた。
N.P.内に入り始めて20kmくらい、何か茂みに岩のような物があるなとスピードを落として見てみると


Those were elephants; a group of 6 elephants. I was only about 20m away from them. They wee eating grass. I slowed down and started taking some photos.
As this photo shows, an male elephant found me and started moving his ears open. As long as I knew, it was not good sign.
He seemed warning. I started picking up the speed to move away from this point.

中には6匹くらいのゾウの群れ、20mくらいの至近距離で見るゾウはすごく迫力がある。カメラを向けて自転車を降りないで走っていると、オスのゾウに気付かれた。この写真は丁度こっちに気付いた時くらい。
耳を大きく広げて何かあまり良くない雰囲気、確かゾウが怒ると耳を広げて威嚇すると聞いていたし、かなり早く走れる。これはヤバイと思ってペダルを思い切り踏み込んでその場から離れた。


I cycled a few kilometers and stopped. My legs were shaky. I was really scared. It was absolutely different from the feeling when I was on Safari tour. It was a real contact of wild animals.
If it was a group of lion, how it could be.....

少し走って止まると、足が震えているのがわかった。やはり車の窓越しとは訳が違う。サファリの車から見たゾウは可愛い動物だったけれど、生身の人間として見るゾウは恐い猛獣だった。なかなかこんな体験はできない。これがライオンだったらと思うとゾッとする。

There were many anthills on my way. It looked an fine art work against the blue sky.

この辺りはやたらと大きな蟻塚がある。ニョキニョキと空高く成長し、青い空に映えるオブジェのようだ。





I was tired enough since I had cycled for 500km in 5 days, so I took a half day off in Gweta, a little village 200km east of Maun. There was a lodge that had some good reputation from over-landers and Lonely Planet.

Gwetaというマウンから約200km手前にある小さな村で半日休憩を取った。ブラワヨから500kmを5日で走って来て疲れが溜まっている。



Planet Baobab was a good place to chill out. As the name of it shows, there were some big baobab trees in their property. The biggest highlight of this place was a big swimming pool.

泊まったのはプラネットバオバブ。Lonly Planetやオーバタンダーからも高評価な宿らしい。名前の通りバオバブが生えていて雰囲気が良い。一番のポイントは大きなプール。




It turned into a small reward after cycling in hot for long time.

暑い中ずっと走って来て、ちょっとしたご褒美になった。

This is the Art of Africa. I liked safari and falls but it was the best moment I have in east Africa.

雲の作り出す「画」、サファリや滝も良かったけれど、これが東アフリカで一番感動した瞬間だった。

As I was getting closer to the Nata, the water almost reaches to the surface of the road. This seasonal flooding brings a lot of animals.

Nataに近ずくと水が溢れんばかりに迫って来ていた。雨季に溢れ出た水が生き物と共にやって来るらしい。





The camp ground I wanted to stay at was closed due to the flooding. This area is about the boundary of wildlife and human life. Every time when I talked to the people, they said "are you not afraid of lions?".

Nataで泊まりたかったキャンプ場も水没して閉鎖していた。もうこっからは野生動物と人間の生活圏の狭間。人と会うと必ずライオンに食われるぞと脅される。



I believe I got a spirit protecting me after visiting Zimbabwe.

私はジンバブエで精霊の力を頂いたから大丈夫、と信じたい。

2 days from Bulawayo, I reached to the border of Botswana. I camped at the police station last night. Seemed my new cloth worked for appearing better.
I met a journalist for Zimbabwe chronicle and had an interview. She told that it would be on weekend newspaper. I'm regretted that I wouldn't be able to look at it since I am getting out of Zimbabwe.

ブラワヨを出て2日でボツワナ国境に到着した。昨夜はまたもや警察署にお世話になった。服を新調して小綺麗な格好だったからなのか即答で野宿を承諾して頂いた。ここでジンバブエの新聞記者とたまたま会い取材を受けた。週末の新聞に載るらしいけれど、もうジンバブエを出るので見られない。


Japanese doesn't need a visa for Botswana, so it was easy to cross the border. However, the regulation of bringing things into Botswana was more strict than I expected. I was forced to eat all bananas I had otherwise I loose all bananas.

ボツワナはVISAが必要無いから手続きは至ってスムーズに済んだ。が、国内への持ち込み規制が厳しくて、バナナをゲートを出る前に無理やり5本も食べさせられるはめになった。基本的に食料品は全部ダメらしい。




Botswana is really a flat country. The scenery doesn't change for miles and miles, but the crowed on the sky was like one of the best art.

ボツワナに入ると起伏が殆ど無くなって、単調な道が続く。ただ、サバンナの上をプカプカ浮かぶ雲を見ながら走るのは気持ちが良い。



The population of this country is only 2 millions even though it is about 1.5 times as big as Japan. The most of the people stay in southern region, so the north where I'm cycling is very open. I don't see any people walking between the villages. Since that reason, I couldn't end up any village at the first night, so I camped in a farmland.

この国は日本の国土の1.5倍くらいあるのに人口は200万しかいない、その大半は南部に住んでいるから、今走っている辺りは町を一旦出ると人が全くいない。ボツワナ初日は村にたどり着けなくてアフリカに来て初のブッシュキャンプになった。


It was at least wild animal free since the farm was all fenced off, but the bells of caws were very noisy.

牧場の中にテントを張ったから、牛の鈴がうるさくてなかなか寝付けなかった。牧場はフェンスに囲まれているから、ライオンとかゾウに襲われる心配は少ないので安心ではある。

I had another thing to do in Bulawayo before taking off. My cloth I've been wearing were really torn out. I was really looking homeless these days. I thought appearance was important when I ask for camping for someone.
I might have been rejected when I asked for camping at the police some days ago because of my cloth.
Since that reason, I went to the market to get new.

モロッコで友人からもらったジャージの下、タンザニアで買った長袖シャツがもう寿命が来ていて、身なりがあまりに薄汚いのでブラワヨで新調した。やはり野宿交渉する時なんかはある程度の見なりでないと失敗する可能性がある。この前警察署で野宿を断られたりしたのも、あまりに小汚かったからなのかもしれない。買いに行ったのはブラワヨのマーケット。


A Shorts and shirts were $17 total. I got a Zimbabwe country product, honey as well. It came with beehive inside and was really tasty.

近くにデパートもあったけれど高いのでマーケット内の安物で済ませた。上と下で$17。ついでにジンバブエ名物、蜂の巣入りの蜂蜜も買った。丸々したおばちゃん。大が$5、小が$2、濃厚でエネルギーが出る。



Bulawayo was easy to walk.

ブラワヨの町は碁盤の目のようになっていて歩きやすい。




It's been 3 days since I came back from the Victoria falls. I had the bad luck but the guest house I stayed was really nice place; Burks Backpackers Paradise Lodge.
It's almost a month since I came to Zimbabwe. I should take off to the next country.

滝から戻って来て何だかんだで3日、ネズミ被害はあったとはいえ今泊まっているBurks Backpackers Paradise Lodge はかなり居心地が良い。あと数日でジンバブエに入ってから1ヶ月が経とうとしている。もう出発しなければ。

As I mentioned before, I left my bicycle and luggage in Bulawayo while I was taking a side trip to the falls. When I came back, I found a bad news.

自転車と荷物をビクトリアフォールズに行っている間ブラワヨの宿に預けていたのだけれど、戻って来てみると大変な事になっていた。




My luggages had been badly bitten by mice. I got more than 10 holes, and some were bigger than my fist. I shouldn't have left instant noodle on my bags.

ネズミにかじられてバッグがボロボロにされてしまっていた。大小10ヶ所以上、大きな穴は拳が入るくらいの大穴。インスタントラーメンを入れたまま残したのが悪かったらしい。災厄だ。


Luckily, I had had a lot of reaper patches from my Italian friend. I could manage to reaper all. I used a used tube for couple of big holes as well.
I spent whole day for working for these.

昨年イタリアの友人から補修用の生地を大量にもらっていたのがここに来て本当に役にたった。大きい穴は自転車のチューブを切って代用。地道に穴を塞いでいき、何とか防水性を保てるまで補修を済ませる事が出来た。長旅になるといつ何が起こるかはわからない。

In the same day we arrived to the falls, we went to see the actual falls. It costs me $30, a bit expensive. As we walked through the forests, the sound of splashing started hearing.

ビクトリアフォールズに到着して早速その日のうちに滝を見に行った。エントランスで$30、なかなか良い値段を取る。滝の流れ落ちる轟音を聞きながら森の中を抜けると。

We were moved by fall's great force. Volume of water was impressive. It was sometime hard to make a conversation properly because the sound of fall was really big.

大迫力のビクトリアの滝。雨季ともあって流れ落ちる水量が半端ない。落ちる音がすごすぎて声も聞こえずらい。



It was the late afternoon, the sun light created beautiful rainbow.

丁度午後の時間帯の光に照らされて、綺麗に虹も出ていた。



As we walked towered the main fall, the splash started making rain. I had to have a brave to take my camera out. I've hard from coupe of Japanese that they got their camera broken by water.

断崖に沿ってメインの滝に近ずくにつれ、舞い上がったしぶきが落ちて来て、カメラを出すのが怖くなってきた。それも宿で会った日本人2人からカメラを水没させてしまったという話を聞いていたから。



At the main view point, the splash became falling bucket of water. No way to take a photo here. I put my camera and other things in two of ziplock bags.

そして最後のビューポイントに着く頃には豪雨のごとく水が落ちて来て、カメラを出しての撮影は完全に不可能。貴重品はジップロック2枚で対応して中に突入した。これはジップロックの中から撮った写真。



I was soaked by the time we got to the end. It was good choice that I wore swimming pants.

最後のビューポイントから出る頃には全身ビショビショ。海パンで挑んで正解だった。



There was the bridge over Zambezi river. It was constructed 1905.

最後に見えたのはザンビア側に渡る古い橋。1905年に建造されたらしい。

In Bulawayo, I planed to leave my bicycle at a guest house and take a train to the Victoria falls. It is one of the"must see" sights on my list.
Falls are located 450km north from Bulawayo and since I wanted to go to Botswana, it would be a big detouring if I go there by bicycle. So I decided to take the train.

ブラワヨからは電車を使った小旅行を予定していた。目的地はビクトリアの滝。ここはアフリカに来たならば見ておきたい。
ただ、ここからビクトリアの滝までは自転車で片道450km、5日の距離、ボツワナは走りたいから、そうなると自転車でまた300km程同じような区間を戻らないといけなくなる。それなら自転車をブラワヨに残して、電車で往復しようという事になった。

For this side trip, other Japanese I met in Harare joined me.
It had been a while since I took a train at the last time. I was exited.

この電車旅にはハラレで会ったチーさんオーさんも合流して一緒にビクトリアの滝に向かった。久々の電車旅、しかも日本人も一緒という事で何だが遠足気分。



The train left 9:30pm, 2 hours behind actual schedule. We took a first class sleeper. It cost only $12. This train was very old but including a dining car. I thought it was way good enough for $12.

出発から2時間遅れて夜9時30分ブラワヨ駅を出発した。
乗車したのは1等寝台、とはいえ値段は$12とかなり良心的だ。古い割には寝台もまあまあだし、食堂車もあって朝飯や酒も安く飲み食い出来て良かった。







We drunk local beer "Chibuku" and then just enjoy talking to other passengers and seeing the views passing by.

ローカルビール「チブク」を飲みながらのひたすら車窓を眺めたり、乗り合わせた地元の人達、車掌さんと話しながら過ごした。天気も良くて素晴らしく気持ち良い車窓からの風景。








I brought a speaker to enjoy some music.

持ってきたスピーカーから音楽をガンガン流して、気分は最高。




The train arrived to the Victoria Falls station at 3pm. It took us 20hours.
When we were arriving to the station, we could see the splash from the falls.

12時間の予定乗車時間を大分過ぎて翌日の15時、約20時間掛かって目的地のビクトリアフォールズ駅に到着した。駅からは早速滝からのしぶきと思われる雲が地表から立ち上っていた。期待が高まります。

From the Great Zimbabwe ruin, I headed west. My next destination was Bulawayo. It took me for 3 nights. On this way, I had a bit of hard times.

グレートジンバブエからは進路を西に取ってブラワヨに向かった。この3泊4日は苦しくも良い思い出になった。まずブラワヨを出た当日、久々に寝床探しに手こずった。



In the first night, I arrived to the town called Mashava. I was thinking to stay this night at the police station.
I went there about 5pm. I had to wait till 6pm. Then, their answer was NO. Okay, I went to a primary school next and asked the head master. She told me to go to the police station. Okay, then I went to a church and asked a paster. He told me to go to the police station. Damn....all told me to go to the police even the paster. I told him I went there already but...
It started raining. I was very tired and frustrated.
It was already dark so no way to go back on the road.
My best choice was to go back to the police station again.
I went back and explained everything. They told me no at first but eventually I successfully convinced them to let me stay one night.
It was already passed 9pm. I was exhausted and slept like a dead body.

夕方着いたのがMashavaという町で、この日は警察署に泊めてもらおうと考えていた。警察署に着いたのは夕方5時、1時間待たさた挙句野宿はダメ、仕方ななく次は小学校に行くも校長の返答はダメ、そして次は教会に行って神父に交渉したが警察署に行けとの返事。さすがに神父にダメだと言われたのは凹んだ。この町には神はいないらしい。雨も降って来てもう踏んだり蹴ったりだ。
もう外は真っ暗になっていた。この時間から走りたくは無いし、森の中で野宿もしたくは無い。仕方なく警察署に戻って事情を説明する事にした。最初はムリだと言われたけれど、根気良く説得した結果しぶしぶ1泊許可をもらう事が出来た。
もう時刻は9時近く、この日は久々に精も根も尽きた。


Next day, I ended up at a camp where construction workers stay.

疲れが残る2日目、この日は道路工事の作業員用宿舎。




They offered me to stay in one of the empty shade. It was great offer because I could avoid raining.
However, the shade was full of big spiders. It was not really conferrable.....

中で泊まって良いよと言われたけれど中がでかいクモの巣窟と化していていて生きた心地がしなかった。




Then, my third night, I was camping at a farm.

そして3泊目は農家の庭でキャンプ。

They had couple of dogs. They were not dangerous but not friendly. I thought it would be fine for tonight. However, those dogs started pissing on my tent. It was not only once. They kept pissing at least 4 times as long as I saw.
The photo; I cleaned my tent and was drying it beside those dogs. Stupid dogs.

ここは犬に苦労した。別に凶暴な犬とかではなかったのだけれど、こいつらにはテントに散々しょんべんをかけられた。この写真はしょんべんを洗って乾かしている様子。横で寝てるのがその犬達。のんきなもんです。



It was tiring for only 3 nights but now have already become an experience giving me laugh.

たった3泊4日だけれど異常に疲れた区間となった。既に今となっては良い思い出です。
