Stayed in Stung Treng for couple of days and took a day off.

ストゥントゥレンで休息をかねて2泊。





Will get into Laos.

これからラオス入り。





Japanese will be able to stay in Laos for 15 days without visa, so I will cross the Vietnam border once by Feb 16th and come back into Laos again. Then will move to China.

ノービザ15日なんで、一度ベトナムに抜けて、再度ラオス入りして中国に入る予定。







My China visa that I already apply in Japan is 90 days, and entry date is by March 7th.

中国ビザは3月7日までに入国しないといけない90日ビザを日本で事前に取ってきてある。







Once I crossed the border, I won't be able to go slowly. Also my sprit is already in China and Central Asia.

今日ラオス入りしたら、あまりダラダラ滞在してもいられない。何か気持ちもすでに雲南・四川、そして中央アジア越え。








I met a couple of cyclists, Izzy and Robbin, from Australia in Stung Treng. Since their way is the same until right before the border, we cycled together.

ストゥントゥレンでオーストラリアサイクリストのイージーとロビンに会い、60km程だが途中まで方向が同じだから並走した。




It's very nice to cycle with someone.

久々の並走は楽しかった。





We cycled together until Dom Kralor. They went east, and I headed the border.

彼らはボーダー手前のドムクラローで東へ。自分はラオス国境へ進んだ。





Until there, Dom Kralor, there were nothing around. Even on the way was nothing; no house, people and cars. That makes me a bit worry if there will be nothing.

ここまで本当に何もない野っ原を走って来たが、国境に向かう道も人も車も見かけない。これだけ何もないとさすがに不安になる。








After cycling 7km west from Dom Kralor, a place seems the border was appeared. This was actually the border but it's middle of nowhere....

ドムクラローから西に7キロくらい何もない野っ原を進むと、ありえないくらいこじんまりとしたゲートが現れる。








Payed $2 and got stumped at the small shade of Cambodia immigration.

手前のほったて小屋で2ドル払い、カンボジアの出国スタンプを押してもらう。







Moved 20m and payed $2 and got stumped. Kids playing and chicken walked around. I couldn't believed it was the international border.

20メートル進んだ場所にあるラオスのほったて小屋で2ドル払い、入国スタンプ。道路際では子供達が遊んでいて、鶏がウロウロ。これが国境なんて信じられない。ゆるすぎる。







Anyway, so far so good. One the way north, I stopped a water fall. It was huge and pretty impressing how much water flow down in few seconds.

とにもかくにもラオスにすんなり入国。途中、コーンパーペンの滝に立寄る。さすがにメコン川の滝の迫力はすごい。








It's getting dark so about the time to search a place to sleep. I found a temple so visited there as usual.

だいぶ日も傾いたので、今日の宿泊先を探す。しばらく走ると寺があったんで、いつものように立寄る。








I asked a monk. Seemed this temple was owned by individual person, and he doesn't have a right to make a decision by himself. The owner lived right next so I visited.

僧侶にキャンプの交渉をしてみると、持ち主に確認してくれと言われる。どうやら、この寺は個人が持ち主らしい。持ち主の家族は寺の隣に住んでいるらしいので聞きに行くと.......








The answer was NO......

答へは何とノーー！







Can't be.......

そんなバカな！







I had a sort of confident that I can stay at any temple because I've never rejected so far. So that it shocked me a lot....

これまで、寺では絶対に断られないという自信のようなもんが芽生えていたんで、それが崩れ落ちた瞬間だった。






No choice, so I kept going. It's getting darker and darker. No temples, hotels and police office.

仕方ないから先に進む。だんだん暗くなる。寺も、宿も、警察署もない。






I stopped couple of homes to ask if I camped out.

途中、2件程道を聞くついでに民家の軒下でキャンプさせてもらえないか聞いてみる。




The answer was NO.......

答えはノーー！！





Lao people might be unwelcoming??? Of cause no many people say Yes... I didn't expect I would have hard time to find a place to sleep.

ラオス人は意外と冷たいのかな(^_^;)？
ま、普通に考えてノーだよね。
初日からこんなに宿で困るとは思ってもいなかった。






It's just right before totally dark. I finally found a hotel. The price was very expensive, $11 even though they discounted. It was better than camping out in bushes.

本当に真っ暗になる寸前。やっとホテルを見付ける。値下げしてもらって11ドル。かなり不本意だか、野宿はさすがにしたくないので、ここで今夜は手を打ちましたとさ。あー疲れた。。
