30km from Zeida, arrived to Midelt, the town for sort of the gate of Atlas. Atlas mountain is defined with 3 parts; Moyen, Haut and Anti Atlas. From here, I will cross Moyen Atlas. This is east end of Atlas.
Midelt was a small Berber people's town so that there were more people wearing turban in the town. I expected there would be many shops selling Berber carpets in town, according to my guide book. However, an area for those shops on the map in my guide book had been gone. This was only the reason I stopped here, so there was nothing to see around. This day became my half day off. Next day, I left Midelt. After cycling a while, the road got into the red rocky mountain. The road went up to the pass 1900m. ![]() ![]() ![]() I can tell how strong the wind was in this day. I had a super strong head wind till my distention of the day, about 75km. I took 6.5h for the distance that I normally can take in 5h. ![]() The cafe for the lunch stop. ![]() I was very very tired by strong wind. A Berber woman was working in a cafe, and she cooked a omelets and flesh baked bread. It was very powering me. ![]() ![]() This cafe was in middle of nowhere, but they had a guest book. I looked inside and seemed many tourists had stopped here, even I saw Japanese language. Finally reached to the town Rich. My mouth was sandy. It was very hard work. There were 3 hotels as long as I saw. I picked the one next to the bus station. However, after I carried up all of my stuff to the room, person in charge told me not to bring my bike up and need it to be outside. I forgot to ask before because normally caring bike to the room is no problem. Of cause I did not stay here and reloaded my luggage and moved to another hotel. In morocco, the reception and rooms of a hotel is normally located second floor so I always need to carry my bike up. ![]() ![]() The second hotel was no problem for bicycle, so I checked in. It was 50DH about $5. However, the room of mine was third floor..... It was hard work to bring all up. The stamina testing was still continued....
